
Due to a public holiday on the occasion of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, the first session at the India’s leading commodity derivatives exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), remained closed until 5 PM, while the second session operated as usual from 5 PM onward. In the second session, by 5:30 PM, a turnover of ₹23,145.18 crore was recorded in various commodity futures, options, and index futures on MCX. In which commodity futures accounted for Rs. 3062.96 crores and options on commodity futures for Rs. 20081.57 crores (notional). Bullion Index MCXBULLDEX Apr-25 futures was reached at 21582.
Commodity Future Contracts:
Bullion: In precious metals, Turnover of GOLD and SILVER futures variants clocked Rs. 2133.93 crores. At the time of writing, MCX GOLD futures, with June-2025 expiry contract was down by Rs.295 or 0.31% to Rs. 93450 per 10 gram, GOLDTEN April-2025 contract was down by Rs.335 or 0.36% to Rs. 93246 per 10 gram, GOLDGUINEA April-2025 contract was down by Rs.175 or 0.23% to Rs. 74799 per 8 gram and GOLDPETAL April-2025 contract was down by Rs.21 or 0.22% to Rs. 9373 per gram. On other hand, GOLDM May-2025 contract was down by Rs.280 or 0.3% to Rs. 93000 per 10 gram.
SILVER futures, with May-2025 expiry contract was up by Rs.728 or 0.77% to Rs. 95014 per kg, while SILVERM April-2025 contract was up by Rs.699 or 0.74% to Rs. 95004 per kg and SILVERMIC April-2025 contract was up by Rs.699 or 0.74% to Rs. 95010 per kg.
GOLD futures clocked turnover of Rs. 732.04 crores with volume of 783 lots and OI of 22489 lots while SILVER futures clocked turnover of Rs. 562.86 crores with volume of 1972 lots and OI of 23038 lots.
Base Metal: Turnover of base metal futures products accounted for Rs. 270.94 crores. COPPER April-2025 contract was up by Rs.7 or 0.83% to Rs. 846.95 per kg and ZINC April-2025 contract was down by Rs.1 or 0.39% to Rs. 253.6 per kg while ALUMINIUM April-2025 contract was down by Rs.0.3 or 0.13% to Rs. 235.7 per kg and LEAD April-2025 contract was up by Rs.0.3 or 0.17% to Rs. 178.5 per kg.
COPPER futures clocked turnover of Rs. 173.71 crores, ALUMINIUM futures Rs. 19.35 crores, LEAD futures Rs. 6.57 crores, and ZINC futures clocked turnover of Rs. 50.53 crores.
Energy: Turnover of energy futures products contributed for Rs. 706.51 crores. CRUDEOIL April-2025 contract was up by Rs.63 or 1.19% to Rs. 5365 per BBL while NATURALGAS April-2025 contract was up by Rs.0.6 or 0.2% to Rs. 305 per MMBTU.
CRUDE OIL futures clocked turnover of Rs. 141.64 crores and NATURAL GAS futures Rs. 470.92 crores.
AGRI: and COTTONCNDY May-2025 contract was down by Rs.90 or 0.17% to Rs. 54410 per candy.
Options on Commodity Future Contracts:
Commodity Options accounted for Rs. 20081.57 crores turnover (notional), having premium turnover of Rs. 332.4 crores.
CRUDE OIL Options: Most traded contracts among CRUDE OIL Options were Call Option April-2025 contract at Strike price of Rs.5400 was up by Rs.9 or 14.2% to Rs. 72.40 with volume of 25008 lots & OI of 12106 lots, while CRUDE OIL Put Option April-2025 contract at Strike price of Rs.5300 was down by Rs.46.6 or 41.91% to Rs. 64.6 with volume of 18966 lots & OI of 9568 lots.
NATURAL GAS Options: Most traded contracts among NATURAL GAS Options were Call Option April-2025 contract at Strike price of Rs.300 was down by Rs.0.05 or 0.29% to Rs. 17.00 with volume of 9754 lots & OI of 6863 lots, while NATURAL GAS Put Option April-2025 contract at Strike price of Rs.300 was down by Rs.1.15 or 9.06% to Rs. 11.55 with volume of 9705 lots & OI of 8855 lots.
GOLD Options: Most traded contracts among GOLD Options were Call Option April-2025 contract at Strike price of Rs.95000 was down by Rs.236.5 or 16.83% to Rs. 1169 with volume of 200 lots & OI of 759 lots, while GOLD Put Option April-2025 contract at Strike price of Rs.90000 was down by Rs.9.5 or 1.57% to Rs. 596 with volume of 233 lots & OI of 1066 lots.
SILVER Options: Most traded contracts among SILVER Options were Call Option April-2025 contract at Strike price of Rs.100000 was down by Rs.60 or 8.33% to Rs. 660 with volume of 545 lots & OI of 2387 lots, while SILVER Put Option contract at Strike price of with volume of lots & OI of lots.
