
: India’s leading commodity derivatives exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded a turnover of Rs 1788795.64 crore in various commodity futures, options and index futures during the week of April 4 to 10. In which commodity futures accounted for Rs. 267976.42 crores and options on commodity futures for Rs. 1520798.92 crores (notional). Bullion Index MCXBULLDEX Apr-25 futures was reached at 21098.
During the week under review, trades worth ₹189,113.17 crore were recorded in GOLD and SILVER futures on MCX. The MCX GOLD June futures opened at ₹89,451 per 10 grams at the start of the week, touched an intra-day high of ₹92,400 and a low of ₹86,710, and closed at ₹92,033, up ₹1,976 from the previous close of ₹90,057. GOLD-GUINEA April futures rose by ₹755 to ₹73,136 per 8 grams. GOLD-PETAL April futures ended the week up by ₹83 at ₹9,180 per gram. GOLD-MINI May futures surged by ₹1,883 to ₹91,646 per 10 grams. GOLD-TEN April futures opened at ₹89,931 per 10 grams, hit an intra-day high of ₹91,900 and a low of ₹87,151, and closed at ₹91,618, down ₹1,553.
In SILVER futures, SILVER May futures opened at ₹94,100 per kg, touched an intra-day high of ₹94,100 and a low of ₹86,223, and closed at ₹91,595, down ₹2,804 from the previous close of ₹94,399. SILVER-MINI April futures fell by ₹2,767 to ₹91,696 per kg. SILVER-MICRO April futures dropped by ₹2,797 to ₹91,686 per kg.
Trades worth ₹22,560.35 crore were recorded in base metals. COPPER April futures closed at ₹827.2 per kg, down ₹39.05. ZINC April futures ended at ₹252.6 per kg, down ₹5.5. ALUMINIUM April futures closed at ₹233.9 per kg, down ₹4.55. LEAD April futures fell by ₹0.90 to ₹177.35 per kg.
In the energy segment, trades worth ₹56,290.49 crore were recorded. MCX CRUDE OIL April futures opened at ₹5,672 per barrel, hit an intra-day high of ₹5,681 and a low of ₹4,798, and closed at ₹5,169, down ₹566 from the previous close of ₹5,735. CRUDE OIL-MINI April futures fell by ₹568 to ₹5,172. NATURAL GAS April futures dropped by ₹50.7 to ₹303.1 per MmBtu. NATURAL GAS-MINI April futures declined by ₹50.4 to ₹303.3.
In agricultural commodities, MENTHA OIL April futures opened at ₹923 per kg and closed at ₹912.2, down ₹13. COTTON-CANDY May futures fell by ₹480 to ₹54,500 per candy.
In terms of trading volume, GOLD futures on MCX recorded ₹116,577.81 crore, and SILVER futures saw ₹72,535.36 crore in trades during the week. COPPER futures accounted for ₹15,268.73 crore, ALUMINIUM and ALUMINIUM-MINI futures ₹2,091.03 crore, LEAD and LEAD-MINI futures ₹543.35 crore, and ZINC and ZINC-MINI futures ₹4,657.24 crore. CRUDE OIL and CRUDE OIL-MINI futures recorded ₹21,831.70 crore, NATURAL GAS and NATURAL GAS-MINI futures ₹34,458.79 crore, MENTHA OIL futures ₹9.19 crore, and COTTON-CANDY futures ₹3.22 crore.
Open interest at the end of the week stood at 21,336 kg for GOLD futures, 3,696.9 kg for GOLD-MINI futures, 63.352 kg for GOLD-guinea futures, 84.776 kg for GOLD-PETAL futures, and 30 kg for GOLD-ten futures. SILVER futures had an open interest of 806,370 kg, SILVER-MINI futures 226,205 kg, and SILVER-MICRO futures 155,862 kg. CRUDE OIL futures recorded 2,137,900 barrels, CRUDE OIL-MINI futures 279,760 barrels, NATURAL GAS futures 17,056,250 mmBtu, and NATURAL GAS-MINI futures 3,684,000 mmBtu.
Regarding index futures, BULLDEX April futures opened at 20,766 points, hit an intra-day high of 21,150 points and a low of 20,060 points, and closed at 21,098 points, up 124 points.
